Inveraray

Tender ashore to the attractive town of Inverary to visit the maginficent castle nearby.

Inveraray Castle & Garden, Argyll’s “Jewel in the Crown” provides visitors with a fascinating historical insight into one of Scotland's most famous ancestral homes and gives them a glimpse of Scottish heritage and the way our ancestors lived.

Inveraray Castle is a remarkable and unique piece of architecture incorporating Baroque, Palladian and Gothic styles. The castle is home to the Duke and Duchess of Argyll and spans many generations of the Campbell family. While the castle is, first and foremost, a family home, The Duke and Duchess are only too happy to welcome visitors to their majestic estate.

Some other tour options include:

Crarae Gardens

Head West  along the stunningly beautiful coast of Loch Fyne to the charming woodland gardens of Crarae.

The garden contains one of the best collections of the genus Rhododendron in Scotland.  Lady Grace Campbell, aunt of the Himalayan plant-hunter Reginald Farrer, began the development of Crarae Garden from woodland in 1912, on land owned by the Campbell family since 1825. The work was continued by her son and then grandson before it was generously given to the Crarae Garden Charitable Trust in 1978.  Take your time to explore these beautiful Scottish gardens before continuing your scenic return to Inverary.

Western Highland Panoramas

Journey from Inverary to Oban, skimming the tip of beautiful Loch Awe with views of the ruined Kilchurn Castle and brushing alongside Loch Etive to reach the coastal port town of Oban.  Enjoy some free time here to explore either with your guide or at leisure and perhaps do a little shopping.  Visitors have plenty of interest to see, from the glass works to the distillery.

Head South from Oban passing the Lochs of Feochan and Melfort and enjoying stunning views out to sea of the Inner Hebrides including Mull, Shuna and more.  Stop at Lochgilphead for a chance to stretch your legs and take a few photos of this lovely sea loch that branches off Loch Fyne.

Finally, drive alongside the banks of Loch Fyne to return to the little fishing town of Inverary - this is a scenic drive that will stay with you for years to come.
